FAQs
-
We work with schools, theatre companies, community groups, independent artists and organisations on projects of all sizes.
That might include:
choreographing a single moment of violence
directing a musical
running a physical theatre workshop
supporting a devised production
helping performers build confidence through training
Even just building ensemble
Every project is different, so we tailor our approach to suit your goals.
-
As early as possible. Having a Fight Director involved early, gives more time to create safe, believable physical storytelling.
It also means we can help identify any moments of physical conflict before they become last-minute problems.
That said, it is never too late to bring a Fight Director on-board.
-
Every project is different and there is no one-size-fits-all.
Price is determined by the size of the cast/class, the time involved and if weapons are required.
Get in touch with whatever details you have and we will give you a tailor made quote, obligation free.

More than most people think!
A moment of violence is any planned physical interaction that tells the story. That could include:
Slaps
Punches
Pushes
Falls
Chokes
Hair pulls
Restraints
Weapon work
Physical intimidation
Even seemingly simple moments like grabbing someone's arm
If it's planned physical contact, it should be safely choreographed.
-
This depends on what you are creating and who is doing it.
For an actor, with excellent fundamental Stage Combat skills, we might only need one or two sessions for one or two moments or a really short sequence.
For a longer sequence we recommend a minimum of three sessions.
If the actors are untrained, we would give more time as the fundamentals will need to be taught.
Creating safe and believable moments, that are repeatable takes time.
-
Absolutely! In fact most of the people we work with are beginners!
Every workshop starts with communication and consent with safety built in. Activities are tailored to suit the age, experience and confidence of the group, so everyone can participate at their own level.
-
Yes.
We have a range of training and performance weapons available for hire, depending on the needs of your production.
If you're not sure what you need, we can recommend the best (safest and practical) option.
-
The weapons are safe!! But only when they're used correctly.
All training equipment is purpose-built, inspected and maintained abefore and after every use. Performance weapons are selected carefully and only used with appropriate choreography, rehearsal and safety procedures.
Safety always comes first.
-
Yes…. But… We would prefer to inspect them first to ensure that the choreography suits the weapons.
Wooden swords made out of the wrong material can cause greater safety issues than metal swords.
